Odessa Mason, age 83, passed away quietly at her Quartz Hill home on March 2, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2016, at Joshua Memorial Park and Mortuary with Reverend Paul Ferguson officiating. Additional viewing will be available from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on the day of the services.
Odessa was born on October 30, 1932 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Cera and Clyde Ridgway. She lived in Nara Visa, NM, Modesto, CA, moved to the Antelope Valley in 1948, and graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1952. She met Lloyd Mason and the couple were married on October 8, 1960. She worked at Joe Walker Middle School and also managed the books for Pacific Custom Construction during the time when Lloyd built several high end custom homes throughout the Antelope Valley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lloyd Mason; two sisters, Virgie Miller of Yreka, CA, and Ruby Kennedy of Meridian, ID; two daughters, Brenda Raulston of Palmdale, Ca, Meloni Haddy of Lancaster, CA; one son, William Wittenburg of Vancouver, WA; five grandchildren, Justin Allen and Megan Luna of Lancaster, CA, Madeline Raulston of Palmdale, CA, Branden Raulston of Long Beach, CA, and Jeff Wittenburg of Hiillsboro, OR; and four great grandchildren, Ethan Luna and Korie Luna of Lancaster, CA, Blaze Wittenburg and Amber Wittenburg of Hillsboro, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Tom Ridgway, Carl Ridgway, Freeman Ridgway, Ray Ridgway; and one sister, Lora Murphy of Yreka, CA.
Her interests and hobbies included crocheting, painting, playing the piano, antique collecting, gardening, and was an avid reader. Lloyd and Odessa traveled extensively throughout the United States in their 5th wheel trailer. She loved to entertain others in her home and was very close to all of her family members and friends. She also enjoyed decorating her home for Christmas and Halloween.
