Aiko Suzuki Kennedy passed away at home with her family in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 2, 2023, at the age of 91. Aiko was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis H. Kennedy, who passed away in 1995 at the age of 66. She is survived by her sons, Charlie (Deborah - NV), Bill (CO), and Mike (Mary Ann- TX), 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Aiko was born in Tokyo but grew up in Okinawa. She lived in Japan until she met Curtis in 1954 and married him in 1960. She always described their relationship as a “great love story” reminiscing with friends and family about how they met, how he went away but came back to her, how she came to the United States, became a citizen on her own and how deeply they cared for one another. Aiko was an avid tea lover, great card player, and self taught seamstress who not only made her own clothes, but also worked in the casino industry taking care of laundry, housekeeping and repairing customers clothing during their stays. She took great pride in her work.
When you ask any family or friends how to describe Aiko, the one thing that always gets repeated is caring. She was a natural caregiver always ensuring that those who crossed her path were nourished and satisfied. She raised her own sons, helped raise her grandchildren, was a beloved presence in her great grandchildren’s lives and for a short period of time, she worked in a daycare taking care of all the babies. The families adored her so much that they would often try to get her to quit the daycare and work as their nanny instead.
After 28 years apart, Aiko will be reunited with Curtis to continue their great love story in a private family service on April 18, 2023, at 12:40 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family welcomes all friends and family of Aiko to celebrate her life after the service. The details of that celebration will be announced at a later time.
