Andrew was born September 28, 1945, in Chicago, IL to loving parents, Alice and William Traynor. He was the fourth of nine children and had a reputation for being a buoyant, fun-loving boy. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School, Andy (as he was known to most) enrolled at Notre Dame where he earned a Bachelor’s in History and developed what would be a life-long love of Notre Dame football.
A participant in the ROTC, Andy served as a first lieutenant in the army after graduation. This was during the Vietnam War, a terrible time to be in the military, but, thanks to the prayers of Alice and the grace of God, Andy was stationed in Germany and not Vietnam.
In 1969 Andy returned home to Chicago from Germany with a new appreciation for sausage and sauerkraut. After the army, he worked in the brokerage business and banking before enrolling full-time at his father, William’s alma mater, the University of Chicago. In 1974 he received his MBA and in 1975 he became a licensed CPA.
It was a few years later that Andy met the special woman whom he would love for the rest of his life, Janett Sue. The two seemed to have an instant bond. On March 21, 1980, they were married. Janett already had three beautiful children, Jason, Valerie, and Nathan. Together, Andy and Janett had three more: Kimberly, Stephanie, and Noah.
Andrew and Janett retired to Las Vegas, NV about 10 years ago. They enjoyed the warm, dry climate, day trips around the valley, new friends, their cat Buddy, good food, and time with family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janett on July 17, 2020. He is survived by his siblings (Bill, Betsy, Mike, Tim, Ann, Mary, Dean, and John) and his children, both his step-children (Valerie Plante, and Jason and Nathan Reardon) and biological (Stephanie and Noah Traynor, and Kimberly Cangelosi). He and Janett were blessed with 15 grandchildren.
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
