

August Charles Marino, 92 of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Saint Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, in a room full of angels with Frank Sinatra singing in the background. Days before his passing, family and friends called and recamped stories with him. The family priest gave him his Last Rites and Holy Communion.
He was born on October 27, 1931, to Charles and Jenny Marino in Bronx, New York. August grew up alongside his two sisters, Agnes and the late Florence. His formative years were shaped by their shared experiences, and he was known for his unwavering protection and care of his sister Agnes. August had a remarkable ability to bring laughter to any gathering, often sharing witty antidotes and humorous tales of his youth in the Bronx.
From his early days, August's parents instilled in him strong values of respect and tradition. His father, Charles Marino, emigrated from Sicily, and together with Jenny, raised August to be a traditional man, one who opened car doors for women and exemplified unwavering respect.
August was a staunch advocate of a healthy vegetarian lifestyle, attributing his vitality to a diet rich in nutritious foods, especially vegetables and fruits of all kinds. His commitment to health extended to regular workouts and invigorating walks, embodying the values he held dear. He loved Italian opera and music by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Andrea Bocelli. The 49ers was his favorite football team, he loved watching the games. His favorite season was winter because he cherished the holidays with family and friends. He enjoyed dressing up and always look stylish with new fashionable shoes and suits.
August found joy in the vibrant atmosphere of Las Vegas, often visiting with his fun-loving wife, Dolores, where they shared many memories. Together, they reveled in the excitement of horse racing, creating beautiful memories in the midst of the thrilling atmosphere. August's love extended beyond the bustling energy of the race track and the vibrant allure of Las Vegas. He was a devoted family man, whose love and dedication knew no bounds. His generous spirit and unwavering kindness left and indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
August is survived by his adoring and devoted wife, Dolores Sophia Marino, with whom he shared over 50 years of cherished and beautiful memories. His love extended to his children, Susan, Charles and Johnny; and to Wanda, Sandra and Brian. Though he experienced the deep sorrow of losing his treasured sons, Charles and Brian, August's strength and resilience in the face of adversity were a testament to his enduring spirit.
August‘s love for his granddaughter Nicole, knew no bounds. Watching her pursue a career in aviation brought him tremendous joy and pride. His unwavering support was a testament to his belief in her, and he often joked about being her first passenger and even her copilot. Perhaps now, he’ll have the best seat in the house as he watches over her flights from above.
