Her parents, Megan and Isaiah, knew before her birth that she would have some challenges, but they were excited to greet Ava and tackle any issues together. Her condition was incredibly rare, and her doctors and nurses did everything they could to make life comfortable for Miss Ava.
Being so adorable, she had a nickname, Miss Avacado and she had a little lovey avocado blanket she liked to grasp which was better than grabbing her other favorite, the suction tube! Her nurses used to joke that she kept them on their toes because her hands were always on the move, trying to grab something-anything! Being a bit of a medical mystery, Ava brought everyone together-her parents, her nurses and her doctors-to come up with solutions. Ava had many cheerleaders all rooting for the best possible outcome, all working together for her survival.
Ava wasn’t able to be held much due to the machines helping to keep her alive, but she loved being sung to (‘You Are My Sunshine’ was a favorite) and listening to music. She would follow her parents and loved ones with her eyes and enjoyed kisses from her mom and dad on-as her big brother, Braylon, declared- “her chubby cheeks”. She heard the words “we love you” over and over again.
Her favorite fashion accessories were big bows and frilly socks. She was rarely without a soft blankie or two and had an affinity for the color pink and butterflies.
Unfortunately, Ava’s time on earth was brief and she was taken Home far sooner than anyone expected early in the morning of August 31, 2024. Her parents had planned on altering their life to be fully present for Ava and her needs, but God had other plans. The lives of all those that Ava knew or knew of Ava have been changed for the better. People she never met but that were told her story, were touched by her struggle and so many were praying for her. The nurses at Sunrise Children’s Hospital spent so many hours with Ava caring for her and caring for the family. Their numerous acts of kindness helped in navigating an emotionally tumultuous time.
Ava leaves behind a large and loving extended family. She was and always will be a blessing and a bright light in the lives of her family. She will never be forgotten.
A graveside service for Ava will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
