Belva Curteman Goldsmith was born on October 16, 1912 to Walter and Margaret Curteman in Henry’s Lake, Idaho. She attended school in her early years at the one room schoolhouse built by her father at their ranch. She then moved to Idaho Falls to attend high school. Later Belva graduated from Business College in Denver and obtained employment with the IRS. While working for the IRS, she transferred to Baltimore, Maryland where she met Clifton Goldsmith. They were married on October 16, 1942. Their daughter, Beverly was born on January 13, 1944. Belva and Beverly moved to Bozeman, Montana to be with Belva’s mother and sister while Clifton was overseas during World War II. During this time Belva worked as a secretary at Bozeman High School. When Clifton returned from the war in 1946, the family moved back to Baltimore to build their home on Overlea Avenue, where they lived until Belva and Clif retired in 1972. Belva and Clif decided that Florida was where they wanted to spend their retirement years. Here Belva enjoyed socializing with friends, attending services at the Kingdom Hall, traveling, and walking the beach. Las Vegas is where Belva and Clif decided to relocate in 1998 in order to be near Beverly and her children.
Belva was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Evalyn, and her husband. She is survived by her daughter Beverly; her grandchildren, Karen and Wayne Jensen, Doug and Elissa Langemo, Ashley and Ben Jolley; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brent, Logan, Nick, Mikayla, Isaac, and Morgann; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Belva enjoyed the mountains, the beach, traveling to new places, spending time with friends, dancing, doing needlepoint, and being with her family. She loved life, laughed often, and always had a smile for everyone. Her kind nature inspires all of us to look for the best in every situation. No matter where she was or what she was doing, she enjoyed every minute. Our lives are better for knowing her.
