On November 24th, 2013, Matilda Elizabeth (Betty) Brunner went home to be with the Lord she loved and served for so many years. Betty was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 24, 1921 to Adam and Elizabeth Harvey. Betty was one of eight children raised during the Great Depression. Like many of her generation, her resilience, character and positive attitude toward life was molded and influenced by the difficult economic conditions the family endured during those early years of her life. Betty met her future husband, Reinhold, during WWII and they were married in 1943. After the War ended, they settled on the family farm in Nisland, South Dakota. With the love and help of many in-laws and close family friends, Betty adapted to the many new challenges of being a farmer's wife and the beginning of a large family. Together, they raised six children on the family farm and each have their individual memories of how their Mom provided the wisdom, guidance and Godly character she reflected so well in her own life. Betty is survived by her six children: Daughters: Diane Knighton, Las Vegas, NV; Patricia (Patrick) Mandel, Las Vegas, NV; Sons: Robert (Gail), Las Vegas, NV; Daniel (Tammy), Las Vegas, NV. Thomas (Quin), Nisland, SD, and Jeffrey (Pauline), Las Vegas, NV; sister: Rose Galowitch, Oklahoma City, OK and brother, Rheinhold Harvey, Las Vegas, NV. In addition, Betty is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Reinhold in 1992; her brothers Henry, Phillip, Gus and John and sister Elsie. . A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7th at 2pm at Palm Mortuary-South Jones, 1600 S. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada 89146.
In Betty's honor, a memorial has been established for either Child Evangelism Fellowship or Nathan Adelson Hospice.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm South Jones Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
