Bruce Francis Golden was born on June 29, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Edward F. and Mary K. Golden and was the older brother of Carol A. Golden (Stupeck). When Bruce and Carol were young children, the family moved to California where they grew up and each eventually graduated from Inglewood High School. Bruce served years in the United States Army as a PFC E-3, stationed in Fort Ord, California.
Upon his return to civilian life, he bought his first home in Los Angeles, California. He was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain and the house that he shared with his mother was perfect for entertaining with its large backyard and pool.
Bruce held many different jobs during his lifetime, ranging from driving an ambulance, owning a small grocery store in Los Angeles, and even working as a baker at the House of Pies. He really found his professional home at the Los Angeles Times, where he worked and managed a team for over 20 years.
Bruce and his mother eventually relocated to Thousand Oaks, California where they lived for nearly ten years. During this time Bruce owned a shoe-store and worked for a home monitoring alarm service company. He eventually retired and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1994. Even in retirement Bruce found it hard to sit still and not work, so he went back to work at The Home Depot part-time as a greeter.
Bruce was also a very loving and giving person. He cared for his Mother, Mary, throughout her life and played a significant role in the life of his sister (Carol’s) family as a loving brother, brother-in-law, and Uncle. Bruce was active in the Catholic church and was an avid prayer warrior for his friends and family. He also contributed time and money to many charities during his retirement.
Bruce suffered a fall at the end of August from which he was never able to recover and passed away on October 31, 2023, at the age of 85. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Donald G. Stupeck (Carol A. Golden Stupeck); niece, Karen Stupeck; nephew, Mark Stupeck (Marie Stupeck); great-nieces, Moriah Stupeck and Megan Stupeck, great-nephew, Ryan Stupeck; and his puppy, Yoda. Bruce loved cooking, playing games, astronomy, his church, and was an avid dog lover.
Bruce was very entertaining and was always the life of the party and will be greatly missed.
