Gerald "Butch" Andrew Condon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 14, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 66 years young. Butch was born on April 26, 1957, in Oneonta, New York, to George William Condon and Sarah Yvonne Condon.
Butch met the love of his life, Corie, at Rockabilly's Dance Hall on December 31, 1987. They embarked on a beautiful journey together and were married on July 2, 1988, in Las Vegas. Butch's childhood was shaped by his father's active-duty status in the United States Air Force, which led him to attend various schools. He ultimately graduated from Laurens Central School in Laurens, NY, in 1976. He further pursued his education and received an associate degree from CCSN in Las Vegas, NV, in 1979.
Butch had a successful career in the automotive industry, beginning in 1979 with Bill Cook Buick in Detroit, MI, and continuing until March of 2020. He was passionate about automobiles and dedicated to his work. In his leisure time, Butch was an avid sports fan, particularly fond of the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Red Wings. He even had the opportunity to share his love for football as a coach for Pop Warner football for three years. NASCAR was another one of Butch's passions, and he enjoyed spending time at the track with friends and family. Apart from sports, Butch found solace in the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He passed on his love for fishing to his children and many grandchildren. Butch's beloved dog, Spirit, was his constant companion during his travels. He cherished her deeply.
Butch often said that his greatest achievements in life were his children and grandchildren. He adored spending time with his family, never missing an opportunity to engage in playfulness and make cherished memories. Butch had a warm sense of humor, selflessness, and a kind heart. He was known for his brutal honesty and strong opinions, which were often needed by those around him.
Butch was preceded in death by his father, George W. Condon. He is survived by his loving mother, Sarah Condon, and his four siblings, Donna, Jeffrey, Bruce, and Roxanne. He will be deeply missed by his wife Corie and their four children and spouses, Jacob Condon, Brandie Koppy, Stephanie Howard (Anthony), and Brittanie Mafra (Gabriel). He will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Noa Reyes, Chance Koppy, Hunter Howard, Rhogan Mafra, Parker Howard, Gracie Adams, Rielynn Mafra, and Charlotte Howard.
A gathering in Butch's honor will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary, located at 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada. The funeral service will immediately follow the gathering.
Butch will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. His humor, selflessness, and kind heart will be cherished and remembered. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
