

Carolyn Child Hadley Dunio, 75, of North Las Vegas, passed away April 12, 2010, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas. Carolyn was born in Ogden, Utah, May 19, 1934, to Henry Austin Child and Bertha Tanner Child. She attended Weber County and Ogden City schools, graduating from Ogden High School. She attended the University of Utah, Arkansas State University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 1953, Carolyn married Walter D. Hadley Jr., in Ogden. The marriage was solemnized in the Latter-day Saints Salt Lake City Temple. The couple had three children and were later divorced. Carolyn worked as school secretary at Bonneville High School in South Ogden and for the U.S. General Accounting Office. After the family moved to Las Vegas, she was employed by the Department of Energy (National Weather Service Branch), before joining the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. She retired in 2000 after a distinguished career with the Service. In 2006, Carolyn was married to Ralph C. Dunio after a 30-year courtship. The couple made their home in Sun City Aliante in North Las Vegas. She was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church. Carolyn was an excellent cook and an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, travel, exercising, crossword puzzles, computer word games and loved family gatherings. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; children and stepchildren, Paula (Jerry) Nelson, Kirk C. Hadley, Robyn (Joe) Staples, Dennis (Sharon) Dunio and Diana (Denis) Eliot; sisters, Carma Allen and Colleen (Dennis) Bay; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Allen Guy Child. Carolyn had a lively sense of humor, was a giving and helpful person, a hard worker and pursued lifelong learning. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by relatives and friends. Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, at the LDS San Destin Ward, 5975 Clayton St. (at Tropical Parkway), in North Las Vegas.
