He was born October 30, 1938 in Liberty, Missouri to John Kenneth and Aileen. He met his life-long love, Trudy, on a return home from his deployment in Japan and they created a beautiful life together over the past 64 years.
Charles was a Navy man, through and through. Anyone who was connected to him addressed him as either Charlie, Chuck or Bob, whether you served with him, worked with him, or was a friend or family to him. He enlisted in the Navy at 17 years old and his hopes were to become a pilot, but a health issue kept him from that dream. However, he served our country for 20 years and retired in 1975, earning his wings as a Naval Chief Aviation Navigator. After retirement, he pursued his BS degree in Engineering and graduated from San Jose State University while raising his four children and working as an electrical engineer at GTE in Sunnyvale, CA.
Throughout his life he engaged in creating some incredible wood crafted pieces that he gifted to many family members. Besides taking up a conversation, or telling stories with pretty much anyone; he loved food, of any kind, except for maybe brussel sprouts. Charles and Trudy enjoyed their Sundays at church, world travels and movies together. In his playful times he enjoyed a round of golf or two.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy; his four children, Laurie Ehardt, Tina Limon, Robert Durden and Tracy Baldwin. He was the proud Papa to 10 Grandchildren and the Poppers to 16 Great Grandchildren and probably the biggest 49er football fan around.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting your presence at his Full Military Service and Columbarium at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV at 8:40am on December 8, 2023.
