Dr. Charles (Chuck) D. Ford joined his son Jimmy Ford in heaven on July 28th, 2025. Just four short days after his 79th birthday (7/24/1946). The son of Charles H. Ford and Fayella Y. Ford, and loving husband of Diana Douglass E. Ford passed away Monday the 28th in Las Vegas, NV, after a long medical battle following a surgical complication in early February 2025.
He is remembered by his siblings–Carolee Ford Martin, her husband Donald Martin, Dr.James Ford and his wife Marcia Ford. As well as his only daughter Lisa D. Bailey, her husband Robert W. Bailey, and Chuck’s two grandchildren Logan W. Bailey and Sophie R. Bailey.
Before getting his PharmD at University of the Pacific, Chuck got his undergrad at Idaho State University. He used his degrees to practice Pharmacy and help vets in Seattle at the Veterans Administration hospital. He also went on to open his own practice “Excel Drug” in Waldport, OR. Chuck enlisted in the military as a marine in 1967 and was released from active duty in 1970 after sustaining life threatening injuries. Prior to his dismissal he married the love of his life, Diana in April of 1969. He retired from his pharmaceutical practice in 2007.
After retirement, Chuck resided on the beautiful Oregon Coast until he and Diana’s big move to the sunny Las Vegas, NV–to live out his freedom playing golf, billiards, going fishing, and rooting for all of his favorite sports teams. One of Chuck’s greatest strengths has always been his sense of humour, often using it to bring out the smiles of his loved ones. His granddaughter Sophie recalls “laughing until her stomach hurt” with her papa; one of his most favorite roles. His grandson Logan inherited his love for a calm day on the water fishing. It is both through these fond memories and in the lives he touched in his career that his close friends and family will remember him.
THE MARINE'S PRAYER
Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family. Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold. If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again. Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer. Amen
