Connie Sue Johnson

Connie was born June 15, 1956 to Richard Gail and Peggy Wright of Alexander, Illinois. She met Harold Edward Johnson Jr, “Eddie”, in September 1972 and the two have been inseparable ever since. Ed and Connie owned a farm south of Jacksonville, Illinois where they raised 5 children: Craig, Heidi, Joseph, Lindsey and Philip. She went to beauty school and had a shop in the home on the farm when the kids were small. Later, Connie worked as a cashier at County Market and then a bookkeeper at Barton W Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. When not working, tending to the kids, making Halloween costumes and prom dresses, driving the kids to games or coaching softball teams, Connie loved to host. The Johnson Home was a place where many gathered for a Sunday breakfast of biscuits and gravy or Friday night match of cornfield hide and seek. The doors were always open; the stories are still being told today.

In 1996, the family relocated to Las Vegas, NV where Connie took a job as bookkeeper at Southwest Air Conditioning and then at Storage on Wheels where Eddie was a truck driver. Though the Johnsons missed friends and family in Illinois, they made a home and a comfortable spot for anyone who wanted to visit. And many did! Connie was blessed with many grandchildren who called her “Nana”. She loved to tell stories of spending nights on the couch watching toonies with the grandkids and has a special connection to each one of them.

Connie joined Eddie in retirement a couple years ago and they enjoyed a summer home in a camper trailer on Heidi’s property in Oregon.

The Johnson home, no matter where it is, is full of faith, love, laughter and great food. That is Connie’s legacy and her family will carry that forward.

Connie is survived by her loving husband of almost 48 years, Eddie, her five children: Craig, Heidi (Luke Brill), Joseph, Lindsey and Philip, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Rick (Kathy)Wright and Randy (Marty) Wright, one sister, Janet (Billy Orris) and too many nieces and nephews to count.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and 1 great grandson.

Connie was a woman of tremendous strength and faith. She will be missed, but the Johnson and Wright families have comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her mother and father in Heaven.

A Catholic mass and interment will be held in Mt. Angel, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in her honor to Morgan County Right to Life.
