Cora A. Howard Ramsey

Cora Alice Ramsey was born December 18, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Cora Howard. She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1945 where she attended music classes and perfected her secretarial skills. Cora was married for 59 years to Matthew Ramsey, Sr. You would never see Cora without her devoted husband and partner by her side. Cora worked for the Milwaukee school district over ten years as a teacher’s aide. Her last occupation before retiring was for the Arch Diocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin as an executive secretary for Bishop Joseph Nathaniel Perry. In 1988 Cora and her husband Matthew Sr. relocated the family from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Las Vegas, Nevada. Cora Alice Ramsey passed away peacefully in her home on April 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving husband and children. She will be missed very much by her family and lifelong friends that experienced her inner strength, kindness and compassion. Cora is survived by her husband Matthew Ramsey Sr.; four children, Elaine Spears, Calvin Washington, Matthew Ramsey Jr. and Michael Ramsey; and a legacy of nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her siblings, Delores, Phillip, Romuald, Richard and Charles, have welcomed their sister in the house of the Lord.
