

COREY BUXTON Corey Ray Buxton, a devoted son of our Heavenly Father and a friend to all, passed away July 22, 2010, while hiking in Zion's National Park. He was born January 12, 1993 in Henderson. He was a member of the Durango Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Centennial High School in Las Vegas and would have begun his senior year this fall. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 462. An avid lover of history and geography, he won the Molasky Junior High School Geography Bee two years in a row and competed in the state finals. He enjoyed playing volleyball at Centennial High School for two years. He joined the school's robotics team, helping to design a robot that would compete against others across the country. He traveled to Dallas to compete in the World Robotics Championship. Everyday he would read the almanac and would quiz family members on what happened in history that day. At 6'3", he was known as our big gentle giant. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Tyler Baxter; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Alta Buxton; an aunt, Sharon Combs; and an uncle, Delos Buxton. The youngest of four children, he is survived by his parents, Boyd and Suzanne Buxton; two older brothers, Matthew who is attending school at Utah Valley University and Jeff who is serving an LDS mission in Scotland; sister, Michelle who is currently attending Brigham Young University; as well as maternal grandparents, Raymond and Maris Baxter of Gunnison, Utah; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Visitation again 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, with services at 11 a.m., both at the LDS Lone Mountain Stake Center, 10070 W. Azure. Graveside services at 3 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Gunnison City Cemetery, Gunnison, Utah.
