Craig Philip Schmidt was born on May 25, 1960 in Blue Island, Illinois to Philip and Adele Schmidt. He grew up surrounded by family and friends in Dolton, Illinois. Craig went home to the Lord peacefully in his sleep on January 22, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Craig was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served for 12 years from 1980-1992. He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in October 1991 and soon after began serving as a Pastor. He faithfully served as a Pastor for 18 years calling people to “Love God and Love others”. Craig graduated with his Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in the late 1980s and attained his Masters of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007. In the last several years Craig served The Nevada Assembly passionately in several roles.
He loved rock and roll, working on cars and house projects, and was a lifelong learner. Craig was one of the smartest and funniest people. He fiercely loved his family, noting that everything he did was for them. Craig ultimately lived his life in service of others.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Adele and his uncle Robert Malone.
