It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Danny L Johnson, 76, on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Danny was born in Huntington Park, CA on June 30, 1948. He was a long time resident of Las Vegas, but passed in Billings, Montana where he had travelled to very proudly celebrate his grandson Jake’s college graduation.
Danny, a US Army veteran, married the love of his life, Karen Cloud on August 17,1968 in Las Vegas. Their marriage was a testament to lasting love and partnership, spanning nearly 57 years. Danny graduated from Clark High School and, in his youth, raced quarter midget race cars. He earned an Associates Degree in Hotel Management/Food and Beverage and later shared his knowledge by teaching gaming classes at College of Southern Nevada.
Danny was a loyal member of the Las Vegas gaming community for over five decades, working at iconic establishments including The Mint, Flamingo and Venetian/Palazzo. He retired five years ago but never slowed down. He loved hanging with family, watching Jake golf, relaxing in Newport Beach, playing online poker or cheering on his beloved Rams and Dodgers.
Above all, Danny’s greatest joy was his family. A devoted husband, father and grandpa, he was a steady presence always taking care of his loved ones, his home and his cherished dogs. He was a loving and dedicated dad to his son Danny and proud “Papa” to his grandson Jake. He was known for always telling a great story, random trivia facts and funny jokes. Danny brought laughter and warmth to every room. He earned the nicknames Uncle Funny and Fireball, which speak to his unforgettable personality.
Anyone Danny met instantly became a friend. With his generous spirit, it was impossible not to love him. His smile, laugh and enormous heart will be deeply missed by so many. He found his greatest happiest simply spending time with Karen and the entire family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Arlene Johnson, his two brothers, Gary (Helen) and Larry Johnson, as well as his daughter-in-law Susie Johnson (Schmitt).
He is survived by his beloved wife Karen, son Danny (Christine Preus), grandson Jake, bonus daughter June Arnold, Allie Clark (Taylor), Amber Sypien and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his loyal dogs Maggie and Daisy.
