Born on March 22, 1966, in Dubuque, Iowa, David brought Midwestern integrity and resilience to everything he touched—from the quiet depths beneath the ocean’s surface during his military service to the bustling needs and demands at CES. His technical acumen and steady leadership made him a cornerstone at CES, yet it was his wit, humility, and tireless mentorship that set him apart.
David was a loyal teammate, a calm problem-solver under pressure, and someone who made even the most complex projects feel achievable. After his Naval career, his transition into the Civilian sector, his transition into tech was seamlessly, driven by a curiosity that never dulled.
At home, he was the steadfast partner to his wife Emelie (Ely), with whom he shared a love of travel, making and enjoying fine foods, and quiet times at home. He beamed with pride when speaking of his son Christopher, always encouraging his path with quiet strength and unwavering belief.
Whether in the control room of a submarine or the halls of a convention center, David carried himself with a gentle authority and a wry sense of humor that caught you off guard—in the best way. His presence was grounding, and his absence leaves a silence filled with admiration and love.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial will be held in Las Vegas, at Palm Memorial on July 31, 2025 and laid to rest on August 1st at Boulder City Nevada military cemetery.
