Devin R. Chavez made his way to heaven on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. From the day of his birth on January 25, 1992, in Las Vegas, and for the next 29 years, Devin was full of love that effortlessly touched the lives of every person his journey came across. From a young age, he had an abundance of energy hence his natural athletic abilities reaching from achieving a black belt in karate all the way to playing Division I Baseball. Devin attended St. Francis de Sales and received his High School Diploma from Faith Lutheran. He then went on to college and graduated from Colby College in Kansas. He then was offered a full scholarship to BYU to play Division I Baseball. With a heart of gold and an innate desire to help others, Devin’s career naturally gravitated toward being a Paramedic for AMR/Medic West where he devoted his time to saving lives. His heartfelt character can be truly exemplified in the way he showed up for every single person he cared for and never fell short of going the extra mile. He was selfless and often found immense happiness in putting others first, as it was no secret he relished in time spent with those he held dearest to him, his family and friends. His legacy will live on forever and his spirit will continue to echo through the love he brought to every single person that was lucky enough to meet him.
A famous saying of Devin’s derives from one of his favorite outdoor activities, fishing. “A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work” he’d always say, which was truly symbolic of the optimistic lens he chose to live everyday through and his Instagram, #thankheavenitsdevin.
Devin will be forever remembered and cherished by his Father and step-mother, Laz & Lori Chavez; Reina Chavez, his Grandmother; Ralph Chavez, his Uncle; Angela Montoya, his Mother; Anthony, Destanee, Neiko, Billy (Juliana & Isabel) his Siblings; Lady, his dog, his other fur babies and several extended family members.
A visitation for Devin will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, followed by a celebration of life at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Devin's memory may be made to All Clear Foundation, www.allclearfoundation.org.
