Dorothy Ann Jolly, 84, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Oct. 24, 2010. She was born Nov. 5, 1925, in St. James, Minn., and was a 52-year resident of Las Vegas. Dorothy received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 1966, which began her 26-year career as a teacher with the Clark County School District. Dorothy loved teaching and touched many children's lives in southern Nevada. She received her master's degree from Northern Arizona University in 1970, and celebrated that accomplishment with a trip to Europe. She loved ballroom dancing and since her summers were free, she was always ready to travel. Dorothy is survived by her children, Sydney (Craig) Barnson, John (Lori) Screen and David (Kim) Screen, all of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to recognize the staff of Tender Loving Care Senior Residence and Creekside Hospice for their dedication and support during the last months of Dorothy's life. Dorothy will be greatly missed, but memories of her will always live in our hearts. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.
