She passed peacefully at the home of her daughter Sally, surrounded by friends, family and her favorite spiritual and "old-time" music.
Elda was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 6, 1921 to Clayton and Maudie Archibald. She moved to Carlin at a very early age with her family and was a lifelong resident.
She married Albert "Pinky" Galvin, and they had three children, Sandra, currently a resident of Centerville, TX; Sally, a resident of Las Vegas; and Joe, a resident of Carlin. Elda spent her life caring for her family and friends. She loved outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hunting. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and she was a lifelong Carlin High School Booster. She was recognized at the most recent Carlin HS reunion in July 2010 as one of the two oldest alumni. She was an active member of Carlin United Methodist Church, and she loved to sing all the old hymns. In recent years she enjoyed the companionship of friends at the Carlin Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her brother Vernon "Rusty" Archibald, during World War II and her husband in January 2004. She is survived by her sister Twyla, who resides in Reno. She is also survived by her three children, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and her faithful dog Nellie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Elda's beloved Carlin United Methodist Church. We would like to thank her many wonderful friends who helped out and made her life meaningful to the end.
