

Born in 1936 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to her parents George and Claudine, Elizabeth was the youngest of two girls. Her sister Nancy and both parents preceded her in death.
Elizabeth spent her childhood in Colorado Springs attending local schools and graduating from Colorado College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In 1958 she was married to Dan R. Newburn.
Elizabeth loved children and spent her career working to improve the education and safety of kids. She served as an elementary school teacher, a Social Worker, an Early Childhood Educator, and retired as the head of the City of Las Vegas Childcare Licensing department.
Elizabeth enjoyed reading, writing, crocheting, crosswords and building puzzles. She loved her pets having had many cats, dogs, and birds throughout her life. Her two current pets include Sparky and Samantha whom she adored.
She served as a pastor’s wife and co-led church congregations throughout her life. Elizabeth served as Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, and enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved the Lord and shared the Good News with everyone.
Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years Pastor Dan R. Newburn, her son Mark Newburn and his wife Janie and daughter Dorothy Reynolds and her husband Bruce, all residents of Las Vegas, NV. She is survived by her grandchildren Jeffery and his wife Pamela, Julie and her husband Ray, Jessica and her husband Matt, Daniel and his wife Gena, Stephanie and her husband Joumy, Nathan, Renna, Jacob and his wife Alena, Jennifer and her husband Gus, and Catherine. Great grandchildren of Elizabeth include Aaron Jacob (AJ), Joshua, Arya, Joumy, Samuel, Caleb, Hailey, Cora, Anya, Corinthia, Emma, and Chosen. Elizabeth is also survived by her brother-in-law Karl and cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Sun City Community Church at 8560 Del Webb Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada. Additional details to follow.
Donations in Elizabeth’s name to any charity or organization that supports children are encouraged. She was a longtime supporter of World Vision, a faith-based global charity. She was a member of Sun City Community Church.
