

Elizabeth (Bette) Schumacher Sain, 86, of Las Vegas passed away peacefully on October 12, 2012. She was born on July 30, 1926 in Annapolis, MD, one of four children of a naval officer. She attended Ogantz Junior College outside Philadelphia, PA and married the late Frank C. Sain, a naval aviator, in 1949. A supportive Navy wife for the 13 years Frank was on active duty, Bette later tirelessly supported Frank in the convention and tourism industry, and most notably when Frank was Executive Director of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in the 1980’s. She was also a proud mother of three boys and a loving grandmother to six grandchildren. An avid swimmer since childhood, Bette loved her daily swim at the house she adored, as well as her beloved “Lady Bug” social group. She was active in both the Retired Officers Wives Club and she and Frank were active in the Southern Nevada Chapter, Military Officers Association of America. She was preceded in death earlier this year by her late husband of 62 years, Frank Clinton Sain and her son, Gary. Bette is survived by her brother, William Schumacher; two sons Todd and Chad as well as six grandchildren, Vanessa, Brian, Eric, Nicolas, Olivia, and Brett. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17th from 3-5pm, and the funeral service will be on Thursday, October 18th at 9:00am. Both services will be held at Palm Mortuary, 1600 South Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146. The interment will immediately follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd, Boulder City, NV. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent in Elizabeth Sain’s name to Southern Nevada Chapter, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), P.O.
