

Elizabeth G. Sheffield was born September 28, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio. Elizabeth was the seventh of fifteen children born to Ulsey and Ilar Greathouse. Elizabeth married Lawrence Jones and to this union a son, Lawrence Wesley Jones Jr. was born Elizabeth and King T. Sheffield married and King adopted Wesley as a Sheffield.
Elizabeth received her Bachelors from Tennessee A&I and her Masters Degree from Columbia University in New York. She taught School at Central High School in Kansas City, MO for over 37 years. She was also an LPN and Science Teacher. Elizabeth was actively involved in several organizations: Past Grand Worthy Matron of Kansas Order of Eastern Star, PHA; AKA Sorority; Red Hatters, and Twin Citians.
Elizabeth was a unique and beautiful woman. She was impeccable in her classy style. She was definitely a head turner when attending her various functions. Everyone who knew her has a story to tell. She was a strong willed lady who knew what she wanted and wanted things done her way. Elizabeth was a generous and giving person, almost to a fault. You could come to her hungry and you would leave her full. She was a person you’d meet and never forget.
Elizabeth's first love was her only son, Wesley. She was totally devoted to him and after him was her lifetime companion “Sugar” her dog.
Elizabeth G. Sheffield is survived by her son, Lawrence Wesley Sheffield; grandsons; Anthony of Dallas Ft. Worth, Christopher and Angela of West Linn, OR, and Shawn and Kelly of Dublin, OH and six great grand-children; Teagan, Campbell, Vance, Leo, Cooper and Griffin; and her only living sister, Margaret Blakey.
Elizabeth passed away peacefully, September 28, 2021 on her 99th Birthday. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
