Ervin August Hoffer was born in McClusky, ND on Mar. 1, 1928 to Louis and Lydia Hoffer. He passed away in Las Vegas, NV on Nov. 28, 2018 after a short illness. Ervin married Ardis Rendahl on Oct. 17, 1956. He left home at age 16 to become a Montana cowboy, He joined the US Army on Jan. 26, 1948. Ervin served in the Korean War where he was wounded in battle, as well as 2 tours in Vietnam. His military career also took him to Japan, Korea, France, Germany, and Thailand. He retired as Sgt. 1st Class, E-7 in July 1969. Ervin worked for the US Postal Service for one year, and then worked in civil service until moving to Las Vegas in 1978.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren, Thomas Plasterer and Jessica Henson. He is survived by his wife, daughters Doris (Eric) Knight and Nancy Tucker of Las Vegas, and Bonnie Brinkley of Round Rock, TX, as well as his brother Edward Hoffer and sister Lillian Troublefield. Ervin has four grandchildren; Melinda, Tyler, Shane and Christopher, as well as 4 great-grandsons. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 at 2pm at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, 89131.
