Esperanza was born in El Seibo, Dominican Republic and moved to Chicago in 1966. Winters were very difficult for her and her children, so they moved to Las Vegas in 1978 and never left. She was known for spending her free time playing the slot machines at Arizona Charlie’s. Esperanza loved to cook, and always had her home open to those in need and a warm place for family and friends and strangers.
She was the type of person who always brought home stray animals she encountered, always gave to the homeless, and would help those in need without hesitation. She loved to tend to her garden, particularly roses. She was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed going to church daily and praying to the saints. Her smile, elegance, strong presence, and love will be missed by her family dearly. Until we meet again.
She is preceded in death by her father; Santiago Alvaraez, her mother; Carmen Morales, brother; Modesto Morales and son; Jose Luis Arvilla.
She is survived by her seven daughters, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Esperanza will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10:00am at St Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89104. Following the funeral service will be a burial service at 12:00pm at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
