

Frank S. Herbert was born in Argo, Illinois on February 27, 1932. He went home to be with God, his mother, sisters, and brothers on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the age of 82. Frank moved to Las Vegas in 1962. He was a deputy sheriff for many years for the County Sheriff Department. Then he transferred to the Business License Division where he was a senior agent for many more years before retiring. Frank met the love of his life, Emma when he was stationed at the Ft. Sill Artillery Center in Lawton, OK. They were married on June 12, 1954. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and he was a diehard fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He had many hobbies such as working in the yard and planting beautiful flowers, but most of all, spending time with family and friends was his favorite.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Herbert; sister, Loretta Ballard; brothers, Ed, Bob and Bill Herbert (who was killed in the Korean War in 1952). He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Emma; loving daughters, Kathy Vornberg and Ellen Thomas (Wiley); 3 adorable grandchildren, Kassidy, Kirstey and Robert; a sister, Patsy Garritt who resides in Kentucky; his beloved little Terrier, Katie; and many nieces and nephews who resides in the Chicago area. Our family wants to extend many thanks to the wonderful people at Pro Care Hospice of Nevada for their cares, concerns and prayers during his final days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 1:00pm at Palm Mortuary- S. Jones, 1600 S. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146.
