

Geneva Alston Thompson was the third of six children born to Clyde and Mattie Mae Alston on April 1, 1940 in Darnell, Louisiana. She attended schools in Epps, Louisiana, and graduated in 1957 from Magnolia High School.
Not long after graduating from high school, Geneva embarked upon her new residency in Las Vegas, NV. Shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, she married her lifelong partner, Johnnie Thompson on January 11, 1964. Their combined family included Diane, Johnnie, Johnny and Randy.
Geneva worked for several years at Thrifty Mart, which later became Lucky grocery store as a cashier. She retired in 1998.
After her retirement, Geneva enjoyed many activities, which included shopping, helping others, listening to music, and watching sports. Her favorite team was the Golden State Warriors, and her favorite player was Steph Curry.
She became a member of New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Earl Henry. She enjoyed singing in the choir and serviced as an assistant treasurer of the church’s Golden Angels.
Geneva is preceded in death by her mother and father, Clyde Sr. and Mattie Mae Alston, her brothers, Jessie Alston, Melvin Alston, Marvin Alston, and Morgan Alston.
She leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 56 years, Johnnie Thompson Sr., sons: Johnnie Thompson Jr., (Sharlene) of Atlanta, GA., Johnny Thompson (Mary), Randy Thompson (Tiffane), of Las Vegas, NV., and daughter; Diane Fulks (Amos) of Atlanta, GA. Ten grandchildren: Kandace Hunter, Johnnie Thompson III, Azsa Osborne, Jamaal Thompson, JaVonte Thompson, Briana Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Alliyah Harris, Alexis Harris, and Jalen Thompson; two great-grandchildren: Nova Thompson and Amari Thompson; one brother, Clyde Alston Jr. (Elois) of Las Vegas, NV., one sister; Vera Fletcher of Epps, LA., and a host of sister in laws, a brother in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
