George Robert Cole

July 21, 1943 – November 03, 2024

When a great man dies, the light that he leaves behind illuminates the path of many for years to come.

On November 3rd, 2024, Our Family bid farewell to George “Papa” Robert Cole.

George was born in Fairchance, PA to Robert Uriah Cole and Elma Harriet Milsom, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Leetonia High School in Leetonia, Ohio. Following his Graduation from High School he joined the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After serving 4 years in the Air Force, he settled in the Las Vegas area and joined the California Field Ironworkers Local 433, where he remained a lifetime member until his death. In the 1990’s George established his own steel company, Uriah Enterprises Inc. He operated Uriah Enterprises until the early 2000’s, during which time he had the opportunity to play a vital role in the redevelopment of the City and the Las Vegas Strip. During the many years he worked as an Ironworker and Business Owner, he was an essential part of many Local, State and Federal projects. George served as an Instructor for the Local 433 Ironworkers Apprenticeship Program. He served as a board member for the Foundation For Fair Contracting and he served as a Political Party Delegate. In 2008, he proudly spoke before the U.S. House of Representatives in an effort to provide safer working conditions for Construction Trades. Throughout the years he enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader, a Bible School Teacher and a Mentor to many.

George was one of nine children. He was preceded in Death by his Brother’s Jim Milsom (Mary Ann) of Ohio, Orin Cole of Nevada, Terry Cole of Texas, Elmer Cole of Ohio, Paul Cole of Nevada, and Sister’s Mary Chapman and Roberta Ryan of Nevada. He is survived by his Brother Clyde Boyer (Laura) of Indiana. George was also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ellen Cole and his Son, Michael and Daughter Yvonne. George is survived by his current wife of 36 years, Monique Cole. He is also survived by his Children; George Cole II (Lori) of Nevada, David Cole (Brenda) of Missouri, Bryan Cole (Sally) of Nevada, Steven Clark of Nevada, Stephanie Bird (Jay) of Alaska and Felicity Carter of Nevada. George’s legacy will live on through his Grandchildren Cody Cole of Nevada, Chad Cole of Nevada, Mark Cole of Nevada, Brandi Cole of Nevada, Garrett Bird of Alaska, Tyler Carter of Nevada, Bailey Carter of Connecticut, Madison Carter of Nevada, Zachary Miller of Nevada, Taylor Cole of Nevada and Great Grandson, Cohen Carter of Nevada.

A life well lived…….

George’s Services will be officiated by Pastor Jerald Mason, a longtime friend and colleague.
