Gerardo J. Topacio

Our beloved Father and Grandpa passed away on May 2, 2019 after a long fight with declining health due to cancer. Jerry was born in Manila, Philippines on September 24, 1934. He witnessed the bombing of Manila during World War II. After his Father’s death as a prisoner of war, his Mother, Adela and 3 younger brothers, Antonio, Magno, and Joseph came to the United States in 1945. Jerry married Philomena Ariano on December 30, 1967 in Las Vegas, NV and are the parents of 3 children, Teresa, Brenda, and Vincent, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Jerry served 4 years in the United States Air Force at the end of the Korean War. He moved to Las Vegas in 1967 and began a 27 year career for EG&G. He was an avid chess player, soccer coach, and a member of the Schutzhund club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Joshua, Jeffrey, Melissa and Jennifer. He will be dearly missed.

His wife, Philomena, of 51 years, and children, Teresa and husband Dale Prezgay, Brenda and husband Dana Martin and Vincent and wife Lainey Topacio and their families, survives Jerry. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Magno and Adela Topacio and brother Antonio Topacio.

Services will be held at Palm Mortuary on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 3pm. Military honors and burial will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday, May 10, 2019.
