MSGT. GLENN ECHOLS U.S. Air Force, Retired Glenn R. Echols, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 15, 2010. He was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Topeka, Kan., and was a 45-year resident of Nevada. Glenn was a World War II veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a supply master sergeant and truly loved his job and was devoted to the United States of America. Glenn has been stationed in England, France, Germany, Denmark, Chile, and bases in the United States. He was married to Ruth, whom he met in Austria. He lost Ruth 20 years ago to emphysema. After a career in the U.S. Air Force, he became an insurance salesman for the Metropolitan Insurance Company, from which he later, also retired. Glenn was a loving father, husband and loved to cook. His worldly knowledge of cuisine, coupled with his introduction to Austrian cuisine and culture from his wife, Ruthie, made him a gourmet chef in the kitchen. His enduring devotion and love to his children was utmost evident. He continued to care for Michael, whom has Cerebral Palsy, up to the very end. And at that very end, Glenn, Michael and Barbara would sit together and be comforted, knowing the love that only a father, daughter and son could understand. Glenn is survived by his daughter, Barbara, husband, Steve; and son, Michael; sister, Fawn, husband, Sonny; brother, Dean, and wife, Lee; and by the many friends and caregivers who have come to know and love him. Glenn was the definition of a true "gentleman." His legacy will live on and he will be missed by all. Viewing will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131, (702) 464-8460.
