Harold Lawrence Bellanger

Harold Lawrence Ballanger passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2016 at the age of 89, surrounded by all his loving family. Harold was born February 20, 1927 in Springfield, MA. His childhood was spent in the small Massachusetts community of Indian Orchard, where his parents owned a meat and grocery store. He later moved to Ludlow, MA. Harold showed initiative early by enlisting in the U.S. Army while still in high school, grateful he could return to graduate with his class. He proudly served two military tours, both home and abroad in Italy, and eventually earned a Business Administration degree at Boston University. In 1955 Harold decided to venture out west and set his course for Southern California. However, once reaching Las Vegas, he knew this was where he wanted to make his home. Harold especially enjoyed exploring the local mountains and the new desert landscape. Soon he began working at Anderson Dairy, where he caught the eye of the owner's daughter. In 1956, Harold married Janiece Searles and together they raised five children. Harold worked his way up from the collection department to eventually become General Manager and the President of Anderson Dairy. He worked full-time up until last February. His favorite memories were of family gatherings, vacations to Laguna Beach and the Teton River Ranch in Victor, Idaho, hunting with his dairy comrades, boating and camping. Anyone who knew Harold would tell you the two words that describe him best would be humble and kind. His family at home and at the dairy meant everything to Harold. He was a constant pillar of strength, honesty and unwavering support. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Janiece, and son, Damon. He is survived by his son Mark Bellanger (Loretta); daughter Karyn Finlayson (Iain, Ron); daughter Elizabth Boldt (Tom); daughter Sabrina Bellanger; grandchildren Chelsey, Adam, Elise, and Dane. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harold'sname to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or The ALS Association Nevada Chapter.
