Jacqueline DeLanoy

Jacqueline DeLanoy was reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, Drake DeLanoy, March 23, 2012 in Las Vegas. She was born in Santa Barbara, Calif. in 1929. She was raised in Reno. In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Drake. Jackie and Drake were married for over 60 years. Jackie was a former Miss Reno and valedictorian of Reno High School. She was a member of PEO, a philanthropic organization of women helping women reach for the stars. Our parents moved to Las Vegas in 1963 and were active in the community, through tennis, golf, and assorted charity events. Jackie loved to travel, read, garden, cook, throw parties, dance and create an elegant home. She was a guide for Drake's involvement in the legal profession and politics. She was disappointed that her Parkinsonism slowed her down. Jackie had a way of making everyone feel important and special by her attentive listening. She could hear what wasn't said. She believed that you matter because you are you. Everyone who met her remarked that she was a brilliant and elegant lady. Jackie is survived by children, Deborah DeLanoy, Adrienne Grant, and Monica DeLanoy (Jim Sanders); grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill Hammer), Janessa (Mark Dynabursky), Jeanna (Gabe LeFave), Siri (Douglas Gregory), Keenan Ford; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial service for family and close friends will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 14, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Jackie DeLanoy may be given to the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, 888 W. Bonneville Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89106. Our memory of Jackie is her immortality. With Jackie's passing, the Earth is a little dimmer today and the Heavens will shine a little brighter tonight. Have a glass of good champagne and remember her Irish wit. Enjoy being together, Mom and Dad (aka Omi and GP).
