Janice Colvin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 2, 2026, with her devoted husband, David, and her two loving puppies, Trixie and Cowboy, by her side. For over forty-eight years, Janice and David were inseparable, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, friendship, family, and countless cherished memories. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless friends whose lives were brightened by her unforgettable spirit.
Born on December 15, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, Janice was the daughter of Gene and Connie Van Bibber, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended West Bloomfield schools and spent her childhood in the Orchard Lake area of Michigan, where fate would eventually bring her together with the love of her life.
Janice was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lynn Kull and Debbie Buchholtz. She is survived by her brothers, Paul Van Bibber, Scott Van Bibber, and Craig Van Bibber.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of over forty-eight years, David Colvin; her loving son, Eric Colvin; her cherished daughter-in-law, Kristine Colvin; and her treasured grandchildren, Leif Colvin, Noah Colvin, Logan Colvin, Jasmine Colvin, and Ericka Colvin.
She was also deeply loved by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Lillian Colvin, who welcomed Janice into their family and held a special place in their hearts throughout their lives.
Janice and David grew up at opposite ends of Cass Lake in Orchard Lake, Michigan, never imagining that their lives would become forever intertwined. They were married on November 25, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning a remarkable love story that would endure for nearly five decades. In 2009, Janice, David, and Eric moved to Las Vegas, where Janice remained until her passing.
To everyone who knew them, Janice and David were inseparable. Their relationship was built upon a deep and enduring love, but also upon something equally special—they were truly best friends. Through every stage of life, they shared adventures, challenges, celebrations, dreams, and an unwavering devotion to one another. Their marriage was a shining example of partnership, friendship, and enduring love.
Janice possessed an electric personality and was often the life of the party. Her infectious smile, quick wit, and boundless energy drew people to her wherever she went. She loved gathering with friends and family, enjoying an occasional glass of wine, sharing stories and laughter, and trying her luck on her favorite slot machines in Las Vegas.
Among Janice's most cherished memories were the many years spent with David and their beloved son Eric in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From Eric's childhood through adulthood and his marriage to Kristine more than three decades later, Fort Lauderdale remained a special place for the Colvin family. The beaches, family gatherings, and countless moments shared together became some of the happiest memories of Janice's life.
Janice's loving nature extended well beyond her own family. When Eric was in elementary school, she became affectionately known as the "Popcorn Lady." Every Thursday, she would happily hand out popcorn to the children, becoming a familiar and beloved presence whose kindness left lasting memories for countless young students.
Above all else, Janice was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a proud mother of a gifted son and father, an adoring grandmother, a cherished sister, and a loyal friend. She had a unique gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and important. Her laughter filled rooms, her personality lit up gatherings, and her presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her.
Janice and David continued a beloved tradition of spending their wedding anniversaries on the beaches of Fort Lauderdale. Every year, David would arrange for an airplane to fly along the beach shoreline towing a banner that proudly proclaimed:
"Happy Anniversary Janice – The Hottest Babe on the Beach!"
The airborne banner never failed to make Janice smile and perfectly reflected the love, admiration, friendship, and playfulness that defined their extraordinary marriage. For those who knew her in Fort Lauderdale, Janice was remembered as the beautiful blonde lady with a seemingly endless collection of colorful bikinis, never wearing the same one twice. Her vibrant personality, radiant smile, and unmistakable presence made her a familiar and beloved figure on the beach for many years.
Janice was also a lifelong animal lover whose compassion extended to every creature she encountered. Over the years, she welcomed numerous pets and rescue animals into her home and heart. Perhaps her most remarkable labor of love occurred after she and David moved to Las Vegas and settled on a small lake. Each spring, Janice would rescue vulnerable baby ducklings before they could fall victim to the large fish that inhabited the lake. She carefully nurtured and protected them until they were old enough to survive on their own. Over the years, Janice rescued, raised, and released well over one thousand baby ducks. It was a quiet act of kindness that perfectly reflected the gentle, caring, and selfless person she was.
While her family is heartbroken by her loss, they are forever grateful for the extraordinary memories she created and the unconditional love she shared throughout her life. Janice leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, compassion, and devotion that will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of her family and friends.
May God bless Janice and keep her in His loving care until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, Janice would have appreciated donations made to the ASPCA in her memory, reflecting her lifelong love and compassion for animals.
