

She was born September 5th, 1934, in Memphis, TN to John and Marjorie Young. She found her soul mate and partner for life at the age of 17, when she married Joseph Sydney Powell of Memphis, TN.
Joan graduated from Central High School in 1952. Joan and Joe moved to Tucson, AZ so that Joe could work for his father in the construction business. They then moved to Las Vegas where Joan was very active in the Girl Scouts, St. Jude’s Ranch for children in Boulder City, NV and The Mesquite Club Las Vegas, NV. Joan was President of the Mesquite Club from 2010 – 2011 and 2012 – 2013. Joan was also the State President for the GFWC and a member DAR.
Joan loved shopping, traveling the world, and socializing with family and friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Hatridge (John) of Granbury, TX, Mary Beth Powell Farmer (Dalton) of Las Vegas, NV. Her grandsons Stuart Hawkins (Stephanie) of Granbury, TX, Wesley Riddle (Molly) of Austin, TX, Clint Riddle (Hannah) of Watauga, TX , Travis Hatridge (Margje) of Amsterdam NL, Zak Zoblotsky, of Denton, TX , Dalton Farmer, of Las Vegas, NV Cecilie Farmer, of Las Vegas, NV and Eleven beautiful great grandchildren that all brought great joy to her later years. Joan is also survived by her sister’s Margie Collins, of Olive Branch, MS, Sandra Ackerman (David), of Las Vegas, NV and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
