It is with profound sadness,that our family announces the sudden, and premature death of our Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, John J English. Although John lived but 60 years, the imprint that he left on this world will reverberate through generations to come.
John moved from Buffalo, New York to Las Vegas, Nevada at a young age, and it was an immediate connection for him. After working at the typical after high school jobs, he worked for several Las Vegas companies before his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own business. He soon became a consultant world wide for gaming participants. He, indeed, travelled this entire world spending time in Asia, Macau, Manila, Canada, UK, South America, Mexico, and many other regions that have regulated gaming, sharing his expertise, and infectious humor, soon catching the attention of the entire industry. John also was a valued instructor of gaming classes at UNLV. He was instrumental in developing the first kiosk for sports betting and he was the driving force behind the the mobile application for sports betting. He was well on his way to being the legend that he became. He was a pioneer, and an innovator, becoming the past Chairman of International Gaming Standards Association. His powerful voice matched his influential competence. This combination was only a small part of who John English was as a person.
Since their inaugural season in 2017, John, and his sister Ellen were dedicated and ardent disciples of the Vegas Golden Knights along with other family members, and dear friends. They were season ticket holders and as the Knights success reached a peak last season, they were in the arena to hug each other as they had done so many times before. John never missed an opportunity to see a concert, or special event always seeking the company of friends and family.
Nothing in John’s short life, however, brought him more joy and contentment than being surrounded in love by his family and dear friends. Especially his children and grandchildren. John’s legacy includes those broken hearted souls left behind. His children; Destiny Ruggiero (Avan Sachs), Michael English (Kayleen), Ashley English-Gonzalez, Ariana English, Giavanna English; his grandchildren; Zaiden Sachs, Hudson English, Johnny Sachs, Charlotte English; his siblings; Ellen Smith (Jay-deceased), Al English (Christy), and Dennis English (Marlene); and several devoted nieces and nephews.
Our loss of John leaves a hole in each one of us…..impossible to repair.
A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A reception will occur Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
The English family encourages the friends and guests attending the visitation to arrive in your regular wear. For friends and guests attending the funeral services please arrive in your best Vegas Golden Knights and Buffalo Bills gear or colors (if you have them) in loving support of John's memory.
