Jonsi “Johnny” Yousfi, 77, longtime Las Vegas resident and former resident of San Jose and Turlock, California, was born in Tehran, Iran, to Michael and Shoushan Yousfi. He passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Las Vegas, surrounded by family.
Johnny is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Shamiran; his children Tony (Misty) and Natalie (Ninus); and his adored grandchildren Christopher, Ansley, and Brinnley. He is also survived by his brother James (Lyda); brothers-in-law Joseph Koshabee and Youbert Lazar (Bella), and sisters-in-law Karen Yousfi and Gnady Lazar. He was preceded in death by his cherished sister, Sima, and brothers, Edward, George and Joseph. Johnny was a loyal friend and mentor to countless others, all of whom will miss his warmth, generosity, and unmistakable energy for life.
After Johnny and Shamiran got married in Chicago 1976, they moved to Turlock then settled in San Jose, where he began a successful career in construction and home remodeling. Fearless in his work ethic, he built a reputation for craftsmanship, honesty, and a willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his later years, Johnny’s life sparked with energy and purpose because of his granddaughters Ansley and Brinnley. Their fondest memories were of school pickups and after school treats. The got to experience a loving grandpa and second father.
His greatest joy came from family. He loved hosting backyard barbecues or quietly offering advice over coffee. Johnny’s love was constant and unconditional. Even in times of personal pain, he chose gratitude over complaint and service over self-pity. His example of selflessness remains a lasting gift to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to honor Johnny’s memory by supporting Parkinson’s research—an effort close to his heart. Donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, whose mission is to “end Parkinson’s. Together.” Contributions can be made online at https://www.michaeljfox.org. Every gift brings us closer to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
