

After bravely fighting a long battle with Parkinson’s Joe passed away at home from complications of the disease on October 29, 2014 with his wife and niece Nance Kammersell at his side. Joseph A. Roll was born October 13, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents Anthony C. and Eleanor (Graeb) Roll. Joseph graduated from North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Joseph then went to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Physics from University of Pittsburgh in 1953. Joseph joined Westinghouse Electric Corp in 1953 and worked for them for 34 years. Joe worked at various sites including the Nuclear Rocket Development Station at the Nevada Test Site and the Wipp Program in Albuquerque and Carlsbad, NM. He was a Manager of the Westinghouse unit at this site. Joseph had various scientific, engineering and supervisory positions during his career. He will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor and always being ready with a smile and a helping hand. He enjoyed reading, wood working, bowling and most of all the Pittsburgh Steelers. He always liked being in a social setting. He loved his family and close friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret Gassner, Joan Sieffert, and his twin brother Jack. Joseph was a beloved husband who is survived by his wife of 47 years; his children, Patricia (Ken) Simons, Linda (David) Sexton, Maureen (Tom) Boyer and Denise (Michael) Donoghue; Nine grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; four nieces and three nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131on Thursday, November 6 at 5:00PM. An Inurnment will take place on November 13 at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 204 Cemetery Lane, Pittsburgh, PA, 15237-2722 (412) 931-2206.
