My condolesnces to the family of Joseph Thompson.  He was a work collegue and friend.  He had a well earnedreputation as an outstanding police officer.  I had many of his peers tell me he was the best partner they ever worked with in a patrol car.

I knew him as a detective.  He was dillegent in sending our dispositions on arrests something that many of his peer detectives failed to do.  I as a young officer appreciated the feedback.

I visited his home once during the Fourth of July.  He was a renown BBQ chef that made some delicious pork ribs,

God bless him, his family and all who loved and knew him.

Please accept my most sincere condolences on the passing of a great guy. Joe and I worked together at Long Beach California Police department in some matters both scary and funny.
Joe was a cop's cop, and could be counted on without exception.

Joe, thank you for showing us that police work didn't always have to be serious. You made us smile. And you made us laugh, often at ourselves, and always at Pete and Repete. 

We will miss you, sir.  And we will always respect you.  Rest brother.

Joe, I remember you instructing me on how to navigate the Wetlands Park in Park Police Expedition. It was an awesome time! You had the best stories of how the job used to be. Gob Bless you and your family in this time. I know that you will continue to keep everyone safe, just as you did for many years. I will see you later my friend. Until then, may you rest in peace, we will take it from here.
