

This is the obituary for Judith Wynette Otteson, who we all know and love as Judy, Grandma, The Great One or Mom. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 9, 2024 at the age of 85 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Judy was born in Spokane Washington on October 29, 1938 to Laurence and Mary Brokaw. She was born to a large family including a brother, Douglas who died tragically while he was in college, and sisters Beverly Jones (deceased), Sherry Cimmer (deceased), Sandy Woodward, Mary Frances (Frankie) Henley, Cyndi Kallinen (deceased) and Pam Keegstra. Judy graduated from Foster High School in Tukwila, Washington in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart, Dean Otteson, on April 6, 1957 at Riverton Heights Presbyterian Church in Tukwila, Washington shortly thereafter. Soon they welcomed their first and only child, Douglas Scott Otteson.
Judy worked as an executive secretary at Boeing for many years as well as the school secretary at several locations in Alaska.
Judy loved to travel and along with her husband, traveled to all 50 states and over 110 countries during her lifetime, including living in Turkey for 4 years and Italy for 2 years. Judy was a warm and loving person who made friends who quickly became family wherever she traveled.
Judy was an avid bridge player, a voracious reader and a fantastic crossword puzzler. She very much enjoyed visits from her beloved 3 grandsons Jared, Clint and Luke, and 3 great grand-daughters Scarlett, Cali and Colbi. She was also a beloved step-grandmother to Kaley and Kendall Wade, Scott’s step-children.
Judy was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed deeply by her family and friends, but most deeply by her beloved husband, soulmate and life partner, Dean Otteson.

A celebration of life for Judith will be held Friday, March 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129, followed by a reception from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
