Born in Syracuse, New York to Arthur M. Ford and Genevieve Johnston, June grew up with a sharp wit, a fierce independence, and a heart as strong as it was kind. Those who knew her best describe her as outspoken, strong-willed, and someone who “had a way with words.” June had no trouble letting you know what was on her mind—and doing it with charm, intelligence, and humor. Her laugh—joyful, frequent, and contagious—was the soundtrack to many memorable moments with family and friends.
On September 5, 1953, June married the love of her life, Julius Philip Jones, in Syracuse. Together, they journeyed through life in Detroit and Chicago before settling in Las Vegas in 1996. June and Julius spent 30 wonderful years in Chicago and 29 more in Las Vegas, where they built a life filled with love, routine, and plenty of morning walks.
An early riser and health enthusiast, June and Julius could often be found at the YMCA, where June would humorously lap her much taller husband during their morning walks. At 5'7", with Julius standing at 6'6", the pair earned the affectionate nickname "Mutt and Jeff" from those who saw them in action.
June was also known for her impeccable cleanliness—particularly when it came to grocery carts—and her discerning palate. Though health-conscious, she had a notorious sweet tooth, especially for carrot cake, cookies, and candy. She was a regular at the breakfast buffets off Aliante, enjoying good food and good company.
Her knack for writing and giving thoughtful feedback was legendary. Whether it was a note to a dentist, a letter to a retail chain, or a comment to a doctor’s office, June never missed an opportunity to help someone improve. Her pen was as mighty as her voice, and both were used with purpose.
June was the last living member of her generation. June was preceded in death by her beloved husband Julius, her parents, sisters Ruth Ford and Hazel Linton, brother Dr. Arthur Ford, nephew David Linton and niece Yvonne Irving-Rivera.
She leaves behind a loving and caring family, including nieces Stephanie Irving-Linton, Linda “Gale” Linton, Janelle Harmon, nephew Stephen Linton, many cherished grandnieces and nephews, and several great-great grandnieces and nephews. Her presence, her laughter, and her wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Mortuary – Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A graveside service will follow from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Palm Northwest Cemetery, located at the same address. The graveside service will be Officiated by June’s cousin, Ernest Conner.
In honoring June’s life, we remember a woman who never held back, loved deeply, and made the world a little brighter—and cleaner—every single day.
