Las Vegas, Nevada. Laurene was born in Passaic, NJ. On February 14th 1963.She was the 4th
of 5 children born to Ruby King-Hand and the late Robert T. Hand.
Laurene attended the Passaic School System. After graduating high school, Laurene attended and graduated from William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ. Earning a B.A degree.
She pursued a career in education with a focus on children with learning challenges.
Her love of this work prompted her to pursue and obtain a Masters degree in this area of work.
She often talked about how fulfilled she felt working with her students in the N.J. school system and then later on in Las Vegas.
Laurene was very family oriented. She grew up in a large family in Passaic which included her mom and dad, whom she adored, siblings, and extended family members.
In 1991, Laurene married Andrew Stroud. To this union was born, her son, her pride and joy, Marcus Robert Stroud.
Laurene was smart and intelligent and loved and enjoyed life. She saw the beauty in many things and expressed beauty in her clothing and trendy hairstyles. She had a keen eye for design and wowed everyone with her beautiful home decor. She extended her passion of design by creating soaps and body butter in her spare time. This launched the start of L&M, her business which branded her luxurious and exotic soaps and body butters.
Anyone who knows Laurene knows that she has a knowledge and understanding of basketball and football that would challenge any sports caster in this field. From the time she was a teenager she has been an avid and loyal fan of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Dallas Cowboys. Anyone who knew Laurene knew not to bring the wrong information to her about her beloved Cowboys unless you were prepared to face her wrath!
Laurene was a loving mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. And she will be deeply missed by all. Laurene was predeceased by her father, Robert Taylor Hand this April, 2019.
She is survived by, her son Marcus R. Stroud, Las Vegas, NV, her mother, Ruby King Hand, Dover,De., her sisters, Simone Hand, Dougaslasville, GA.,Robin Solomon, (Jim) Dover, De, her, brother, Derrick Hand, (Deborah) Conyers, Ga., Kevin Hand, Nutley, N.J.,Gregory Lee, and Jeffery Lee, ( Audrey) ,Paterson.,NJ nieces, Amane and Brianna Hand, Dover, De., Amara Hand, N.C.A nephew, Derrick (D.J.) Hand, Va. An uncle, Benjamin Hand, Md.. Aunts Doris McCain, N.C. and Lawana King-Obi, (Chuwka) N.J. Special and beloved friends Regina Adams and Diane Johnson, Las Vegas, NV. Lisa N.J.
