Liam Iain Gillogly departed our worldly presence at 4:35 PM on Saturday 25 September 21 (Liam’s sunset) @ UMC Trauma. He was with Mom + Dad at the time of his departure. Liam was grievously injured doing one of his favorite activities with fellow students from Centennial High School Navy Junior ROTC.
Liam was born (Liam’s sunrise) on 27 March 2005 here in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a special gift to Theresa (Mom) + Richard (Dad) Gillogly bringing high energy, vibrancy, happiness and positive life change to Clan Gillogly. Liam was an extremely positive beacon of life, hope, and thought for all who know + have engaged with him. Throughout his short life, Liam was raised as a person of the world being introduced to different foods, other world cultures, and life views. Important sacrosanct life values of patriotism, support, respect, public service, honesty were imparted to Liam. Liam’s approach to life issues was definitely outside of the box. Mom + Dad helped to shape Liam as he helped to shape them. Liam had an infectious smile, remained upbeat in all weathers, never judged a book by its cover, always ready to help others, and did not wear his emotions on his sleeve.
Liam’s favorite local charity is Three Square Food Bank. Our several support functions with this awesome important local charity (thank-you JT3 Employees with their positive excellent spirit) stayed with Liam in all his daily life and activities. His second favorite local charity is Michael’s Angel Paws the awesome team who trained dad’s pup Odin to be a Service Dog. And in the family, Liam’s favorite charity was his untiring love for his older sister, Ailis. His second family charity was dad after dad’s temporary loss of his legs and subsequent rehabilitation in 2018-2019.
Academically Liam was having fun with his advanced studies. Hard to believe that Liam enjoyed English especially poetry. His favorite poets are Walt Wittman, Rudyard Kipling, and Robert Frost. Liam also thirsted for books and magazines to read. Among his favorite authors is Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson fame). Liam’s favorite magazine is National Geographic. Graphic Design was another strong area leading to an Apprenticeship. As a direct result of all of his talents + efforts, Liam was inducted in the National Honor Society. Liam had so many dreams to follow being unable in his youth to decide on a path to follow.
If— by Rudyard Kipling
‘If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!’
Liam would tell you, ‘Please when you remember me, Smile! Chase your dreams – establish your goals. Do not listen to others tell you what you CAN’T DO. You are the only limiting factor in your life. When you think you are done, there is still fuel in the engine. Always excel in everything you do. Earning something on your own always feels great.’ Liam will always be in your mind’s eye, his voice will be heard in your eyes, and always in your heart. Hold on to the awesome people and positive activities in your memories. They will sustain you in all weathers. FAIR WINDS & FOLLOWING SEAS!
