LuAnn Marie Bertrand, 64, departed this life June 10th, 2025. LuAnn (affectionately known as Lu) was born June 27, 1960, to the late Thomas J. Bertrand and Elizabeth L. (Servais) Bertrand Hull in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she lived until moving to Las Vegas in June of 1985.
She is lovingly survived by her brother Kim Bertrand (Sue), her sister Lori Bertrand, her sister Beth Vece (John), her nephew Matthew Balestrieri (Amy), and her stepmother Kate Riordan Bertrand. Along with a stepsister, 3 stepbrothers, 2 aunts, an uncle, and many dear cousins and friends.
Lu took on an accounting role most of her working life, following in her father's footsteps. Most recently before her retirement, she worked as regional credit manager for a national company with a branch in Las Vegas. She studied at both the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse and Milwaukee. She was a huge Green Bay Packers fan, which started early in her Wisconsin life. Lu was highly intelligent and well read. She enjoyed music, singing, playing her guitar and keyboard. Lu also liked to watch old movies, play word games and spend time with her great friends. She lovingly cared for her two cats, who have since found kind-hearted new families, one being her ex-husband, but still a dear close friend, Joe.
Being a strong and independent woman and not wanting to worry her family and friends, Lu did not share any of her symptoms even when traveling to enjoy a visit with Kim and Sue in early April. Nothing was known until she entered St. Rose hospital on May 23rd and was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. Beth was with her big sis every day throughout, and Lu passed peacefully under hospice care with Beth holding her hand. We are still in shock at the rapid onset of her symptoms, which took her away from us much too soon. She will be kept close to each heart of all who knew and adored her.
Arrangements are under the care of Palm Mortuary. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in LuAnn's name may be made to The Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, or any animal shelter.
