

Lucille “Lucy” Lombardo passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at age 97. She was born August 1, 1917 to Eva and Leonardo Corvelli in Detroit, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Philip S. Lombardo, whom she married on July 5, 1935. She is survived by daughters Patricia Brown of Carson City and Rosalind Doll of Las Vegas, Nevada and sons Philip C. Lombardo and John Lombardo of Fairbanks, Alaska. She has 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She spent most of her life caring for her husband and children but spent the World War Two years as a “Rosie the Riveter” in a Southern California defense plant. The majority of her life was spent in Southern California. Her and her husband moved to Las Vegas in 1996 after spending many “mini-vacations” in her favorite desert city. Lucy particularly enjoyed the antics of Frank Sinatra and the “Rat Pack” and the lively music of Louis Prima and Keely Smith.
In her later years she became a prolific creator of hundreds of artistic works of glass bead portraits. She was sometimes referred to as the “Grandma Moses” of glass beads. She will be greatly missed by her family and by her shiny black canine friend, “Tinker.”
Funeral service will be held at Palm Mortuary Cheyenne at 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89129
