Mabel loved to travel, attend cultural events (ballet, opera, plays); played tennis, golf and paint; she took a walk daily and exercised with friends at a Senior Center in Los Angeles for years; and loved to go out and eat with her friends. She was a faithful member of Founders Church in Los Angeles (on 6th and Berendo) for several years.
She relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2006. She found the Center for Spiritual Living in the newspaper became a member and attended until her health began to fail.
On July 21, 2011, Mabel made her transition and a chapter in her was completed. Mabel was born on Feb. 21, 1910 in Des Monies, Iowa, to the union of James and Elizabeth Toler. Mabel was one of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
In 1940, Mabel’s first marriage was to Leon Mann in Des Moines, Iowa. (Many years later she remarried and he passed away.) After her first marriage she enlisted in the U.S. Woman Army, Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. She served for six years and 18 months and was Honorably Discharged from Fort Huachuca, AZ.
In 1949, Mabel moved to Los Angeles, CA and worked at Coca Cola, Matell Toys then went to work for the County of Los Angeles Public Bureau of Assistance. She retired in the 70’s and enjoyed traveling .
She leaves behind her niece, Mary Cason and husband, Marvin and sons, Craig, Marvin, Jr., Cory and their families; Gwen Howard, a niece; Jerry Ashby, a nephew; James Toler, a nephew; Keila Flemings Turner, Carla Walden, Joella Graham, Marvella Brown, nieces; and a cousin, Jackie Bruce.

“Her Journey’s Just Begun”
Don’t think of her as gone away – her journey’s just begun, life holds so many facets- this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched…for nothing loved is ever lost – and she was loved so much.
