Marion (Giz) Helen Badger, nee Mommer beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to so many departed from this chapter of her life August 2, 2015 at 8pm to continue life’s longer story. Marion (Mommer) Badger was born at 8:00 pm on November 9, 1929 in Wessington, South Dakota. She was the second daughter of Earl and Helen Mommer. Marion graduated from Redfield High School and soon after married Delbert “Bud” Badger on November 14, 1948. Marion made homes for her family in South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, Washington While Giz held many jobs in her career, from movie theater usher in her youth to helping run the grocery store in Osage, Wy. She was most proud of her time spent helping kids as a health aide with the CCSD. Marion and her husband traveled all over the U.S. in their motor homes with friends and family and enjoyed opportunities to perform random acts of kindness where ever their travels took them. They enjoyed days of sailing their boats, Gizmo and Gizmo II, on Lake Mead, salmon fishing in Washington or sharing a glass of wine on a beach somewhere at sunset. (Where Giz would always make the “sizzle” sound of hot sun melting the water). Marion enjoyed time caring for her grand children, as well as her great grandchildren. She was a great listener and always had an ear for those that wanted or needed to share. New chapters in her story will be written as she reunites with those that preceded her in death; her husband “Bud”, her mother, Helen; father, Earl; sisters, Shirley, Edna, Evelyn, and Doris; a brother, Jerry; a son, Marty and a daughter, Mickey. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy(Eric) of Glendale, CA; a son Terry(Lynda) of Henderson, NV; many nieces & nephews, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grand children and 1 great-great grandchild, all of which she loved listening to and caring for. Marion was always quick to smile and laugh and always slow to anger. She was a main link in a circle of love and a supporter of the random acts of kindness movement. She was a giver of much and to a fault a taker of little. The hole she leaves in so many hearts hopefully will be filled with memories of “Giz”, an earth Angel. A Celebration of her life will be at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, August 18, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson Street, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
