It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marvin Duane “Marv” Rogge on November 16, 2024, at the age of 94. Marvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone he met with humor, intelligence, talent, and kindness.
Born on June 14, 1930, in Palmer, Kansas to Fred H. Rogge and Edna Pearl (Dull) Rogge, Marvin was the oldest of 4 brothers. They grew up on the family farm and attended the local church and school.
After graduating High School, Marvin worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Washington County Co-op Creamery driving the local milk truck, a broom factory, and local filling station. It was through a customer at the filling station that he began selling insurance. He joined the Navy in October of 1950. Marvin served during the Korean War on the aircraft carriers USS Yorktown and USS Essex. Throughout his life, Marvin considered his service to his country one of his greatest achievements.
Marvin married the love of his life, Marian Robison, on Friday, December 13, 1963. They loved each other every day of the nearly 61 years they spent together. Marvin had four daughters. Sherrie and Lisa with Marian, and Patricia and Cynthia from his previous marriage. Family was everything to Marvin. From piano recitals to baseball games and rodeos, he was there.
Marvin and Marian moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963, where Marvin worked as an insurance adjuster. He spent several years working for other companies until he decided to open his own business, M.D. Rogge Insurance Adjusters. Over time, Marvin specialized into general aviation accident investigations, and the business became Rogge Insurance Services – Aviation. Marvin bought his own airplane in 1968, and his love of flying began. He started with a Cessna 150, then a Cessna 210, and eventually bought a Meyers 200 which he owned and flew for roughly 40 years. It was his pride and joy! After flying for 51 years as a private pilot, Marvin hung up his wings in 2017.
Marvin was a member, and leader, of service and professional organizations throughout his life. This included Optimist International, the American Legion, the Korean War Veterans Association, the United Flying Octogenarians, and the Western States Association of Sheriff’s Aero Squadrons Search & Rescue. He served as Commander of the Clark County Sheriff’s Aero Squadron Search & Rescue, President of the Organization of Flying Adjusters, and President of the Meyers Aircraft Owners Association.
