

Mattie Mae Reed-Easton was born June 6th, 1958, in Natchez, Mississippi, to the parents of Laura and Charlie Reed Sr. She attended Jefferson County High School and graduated 1976. Mattie Reed-Easton attended Alcorn State University before relocating to Las Vegas In 1977, where she landed her first job in gaming; working for Harrah’s Entertainment and Flamingo Hotel & Casino, for 40 years. From 1989 to 2001, my mother worked for the Clark County School District, in the field of education; before retiring in 2001.
Over my Mother’s 40 years in Las Vegas, she developed many life-long friendships. She loved & valued friendship and often shared memories whether through phone calls, visits or the countless trips they took over the years. In 2005, Mattie married her childhood friend, Larry Easton. Over their 14 years of marriage, they have enjoyed many celebrations and created unforgettable memories. My Mother’s greatest joy was spending holidays with family; where she got to show off her cooking & baking skills. My Mother’s single greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren & great grandchildren, who loved their Gi-Gi dearly. Our Mother’s legacy will forever live on through her children & grandchildren.
Mattie Reed-Easton is survived by her loving husband, Larry Easton. Children: Rheumar Reed and wife Fatina. Deshundrick Johnson and wife Natasha. Kristan Ciji Winslow and husband Michael. Ten Grandchildren: Kierra Reed, Ratahjah Reed, Rajon Reed, Ronnie Graves, Resha Tellis, De’Sjean Johnson, Dru Johnson, Drea Johnson, Mykese Teagues and De’ja Austin.
Four Great Grandchildren: Jenae, Madeline, Kahalil and Messiah. Five Siblings: Irma Sims, Charlie Reed Jr, Josephine Erving, Estelle King and deceased sister, Delores Reed.
