

His proud parents Golden and Juanita Hollingshead were thrilled to have a boy. He had 3 older sisters named Kristen, Susie and Barbara.
He was raised in Caliente, Nevada and then came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1954.
As a child Mickey loved playing basketball and running in track races. Mickey was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America. In the summers, he was a Caddy for golfers.
Mickey attended Las Vegas High School where he still holds the State Record for running the 100 and 220-yard dash as well as in the Southwestern United States competitions two years in a row. This is how Mickey was accepted into Rice University in Houston, Texas on a 4-year full ride scholarship. Mickey graduated from Las Vegas High in 1957 where he developed and continued his cherished friendships with Ron Baker and Richard Fightlin.
At rice University Mickey won the NCAA and Southwest Conference Track competitions and then into the National Track and Field Meets where he won as well. He was belovedly named the Gentleman Jock by his dear friends Mike Irwin, Larry Turner and Norm Charleton, they have remained close friends to the end. Mickey and his friends graduated in 1962.
Mickey finished his advanced education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin completing his Doctorate in Dentistry where he graduated in 1969.
Upon returning to Las Vegas, his favorite city in the world, he started practicing Dentistry with who would become Mickey’s greatest mentor and friend, Dr. Cal Evans. Mickey was awarded on the State Dental Board for 8 years to maintain the quality guidelines for licensing new dentists in the state. Mickey retired in 2018 after 47 years of practicing dentistry.
In all of Mickey’s remarkable accomplishments throughout his life, he remained grateful and humbled for the opportunities that presented themselves to him and honored them by treating all the people in his life with genuine Love and Respect.
Mickey was first married to Susan Hollingshead where his first children Tim, Dan and Kimberly would come into this world to create loving families, satisfying careers and bring great love to all who are blessed to know them.
In 1983, Mickey married the love of his life, Andrea (Andi) Glenn, an accomplished real estate broker agent whose practice is still legendary in the Las Vegas real estate community.
Andi brought her beloved daughter, Alexis Glenn into the marriage to complete the Hollingshead family. Mickey was actively involved in the American Cancer Society and co-sponsored the Doctors-Lawyers basketball teams with the former Governor, Bob Miller. These teams performed at the Thomas and Mack Arena during halftime at the UNLV basketball games for many years.
Mickey was a passionate sportsman actively involved in traveling the world to pursue skiing, hiking, touring, scuba diving, swimming with whales, sharks, golfing, dancing with his wife Andi and dear friends.
Mickey’s dear friend Butch Langel has stood by Mickey’s side arriving in Las Vegas over these past decades to counsel as well as to stand by his hospital bed and help our family, especially these past 5 years of mickey’s failing health. You are dearly loved Butch.
Papa Mickey will be dearly missed by his 10 cherished grandchildren Joshua, Matt, Mollie, Addison, Jack, Kameron, Tanner, Kennedy, Audrey and Chole.
An integral part of our family are the spouses of our children who are Michelle Hollingshead, Deb Hollingshead and Tom Michaud who were equally loved and adored by Mickey.
In lieu of flowers, Mickey has requested donations to the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) which has been his passion for the past 5 years.
Mickey transitioned back to his Heavenly Home on December 5, 2021.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 13, 2021 at 11:30 at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 N Jones Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89131.
